Over 90% of female employees eligible for the Child Care Leave take
the leave and most of them return to work.

* Use of Maiden Name

In July 2001, the Cabinet Office and Ministries agreed to allow employees to use their maiden name at workplaces when they request it.

Specifically, employees may use their maiden name as an internal name, for seating charts, directories of government personnel, telephone directories, manuscripts, notices of personnel transfer, attendance records, leave records, and other documents allowed by the Office or each Ministry.

Invitation to Events for Future National Public Employees

The NPA, the Cabinet Office and Ministries hold events for students who hope to serve as a national public employee.

Lectures on the attractiveness of public services and required human resources, as well as duty briefings given by the Office and each Ministry in separate booths, offer an opportunity to listen and ask questions directly to the recruiters.

Invitation to Seminars for Female Students

The NPA holds seminars for female students who hope to serve as national public employees.

Lectures on the attractiveness of public services and required human resources given by female senior officials based on their experience, as well as talks provided by young female officials on challenging and rewarding duties and the balancing of work and family life, will provide an opportunity to relieve the doubts and concerns of female students.
